Batman wins MOBO award!

Batman picture

Batman Samini lifted the award for Best African Act at the MOBO awards, held at the Royal Albert hall in London. Up against still competition from Nigeria's P-Square, Tony Tetuila, Lebo Mathosa and Jose Chameleone, Samini emerged as the people's choice. He is only the second artist to win the award alongside Senegal's Youssou N'Dour.

Samini's unique combination of Reggae, Dancehall and Highlife has made him one of Ghana's biggest stars. His new album "Samini" is the most downloaded Ghanaian album on iTunes and Yahoo, and currently features on iTunes UK's front page.

He is performing at the AUMG "Rebirth" show in London tomorrow night with all of the nominees. More information is available from www.aumglive.com

How do I download Ghana music?!

Some of you will be familiar with downloading music from P2P programs such as Limewire, Kazaa etc. Those systems provide illegal copies of songs, which are often bad quality, slow to download, and very hard to find. The legal alternative is to pay around $1 per track and use a download store such as iTunes or Napster. If you have an iPod, you probably already use the iTunes software from Apple, so just go to the "Music Store" and start searching for your favourite tracks. For example, type "Obour" into the search field at the top-right, and see his albums and songs appear.

iTunes Search

If you use another type of MP3 Player which plays Windows Media files, then you might prefer to use Napster

Searching can be difficult, so we will soon be providing a comprehensive catalogue of every ZJ release, with links to all the different shops, so stay tuned and join the mailing list to be kept informed
